Internet Marketing
As a solid means of making money online, I turned to Internet Marketing for its convenience and ease of entry without any realistic financial backing or a great deal of know-how.
In fact, I had about zero know-how when I first got into this, but since I'm a pretty quick learner, the knowledge came pouring into my brain from a variety of sources that I found soon enough simply by looking around on the web to see what I could see.
And I saw plenty!
There was a wealth of information available on how to get started in this business, although much of it was hiding behind paywalls and "digital products" that had to be bought to discover the good stuff.
Or so the owners of said products would have you believe.
Avoiding the Pitfalls
I wasn't easily fooled into buying a bunch of stuff written by people with barely more knowledge than I already had or could find in various "make money online" forums. Plus I simply didn't have the funds available to pay for the stuff.
So I had to find what I needed to know the hard way. By doing the virtual legwork. I found out a lot and over the years have continued learning, mainly because this is an industry that doesn't stand still.
Yesterday's big new thing is tomorrow's pile of junk.
So to keep in the game, I have to keep learning, keep accepting that things change rapidly and not get complacent when the money starts to flow in my direction.
There are a number of ways to make money from the Internet, as I discovered through my insatiable lust for knowledge. I tried a lot of things and failed a lot of times.
But each time I failed, I picked myself up, dusted myself off and tried something else.
I've had a number of pretty nice successes along the way, mainly because I refuse to be beaten. I'll talk about this stuff in the related articles attached to this category, but here's a taster on affiliate marketing that I learned about early on - and an excerpt of a post I actually wrote back in 2008.
Affiliate Marketing
Why is affiliate marketing one of the most cost-effective methods to advertise your online business?
Well, niche affiliate marketing is a form of Internet advertising that rewards affiliates for driving targeted traffic to the advertiser. The advertiser then pays the affiliate to put up a link on their website, often associated with a short review of the product.
The affiliate then sends traffic to the advertiser in return, who makes increased sales of their product. Simply put, it's all about paying commissions to external people who in turn help you to make sales.
It's that easy?
Well, not really. Affiliate marketing does have its ups and downs. You might find it draining if youre not armed with regularly updated information and the technical know-how. But in essence, it works very well as a loose partnership between vendor and affilite.
Here are some good reasons on why Internet marketers have a huge preference for affiliate marketing as a cheap form of Internet advertisement.
1. Low cost
Many people can be worried about going into a home based business because of the large amount of capital required. In affiliate marketing, you don't actually have to spend all that much to start raking in the money from sales.
2. No Included Inventories
Product management and all its intricasies can be very stressful. An inventory does not need to be maintained. The merchant does all the maintenance that is required.
3. Low risk
A huge reason for most Internet marketers' enthusiasm with affiliate marketing is the low risk factor involved. For those with only a low budget set aside for advertising especially, affiliate marketing is the perfect way to do it.
4. Unlimited Income via Leverage
When you have a regular job, your monthly income relies mainly on whether you go to work or not. On the other hand, with affiliate marketing, your affiliates do all the work of leading traffic to your sales site without you having to lift a finger.
All you have to do is provide them with your ad copy and links. Although not every web marketer earns enormous amounts of money, it's still a cold hard fact that everything that matters for the advertiser or Internet marketer is there for them to be successful.
5. Worldwide Market
With affiliate marketing, you have the potential to deal with a global market place. You simply have to choose a niche product, then prepare all the necessary tools that your affiliates need in order to lead targeted traffic from just about anywhere right to your sales website.
6. No Closing Time
With a normal business, you have times when you are open for business and times when yo are closed. That's a simple fact of life that no one can work 24 hours a day for very long before getting sick! With affiliate marketing however, your business is open all day every day while targeting a huge worldwide market!
All of these points are there to be put to good use. Unfortunately, they will be wasted if you don't have the right niche product in place as well as all the other important marketing tools to succeed in affiliate marketing, for example, a well-SEO-ed website.
It's important to work on the basics first before moving forward and taking advantage of the benefits listed above.
